Something New at Willow View

By Pastor Mark McAdow
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather today. Spring has officially sprung! Robin and I got home Sunday evening after sharing Sunday morning worship in Guymon at Victory Memorial Global Methodist Church with Pastor David Player. Many thanks to our staff and particularly Brian Meyer for bringing God’s Word on Sunday – “What’s so Amazing about Grace?” In a word, everything! I think of grace as “God’s unconditional love.” Without His love and sacrifice; we’d all be lost for all eternity. In Jesus, we can have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10)!

Lots of new things are happening at Willow View. The staff is getting “new” offices following our pipe burst last month. We have new walls, paint and carpet, too. Hopefully, we will all be moved back within two weeks. We have a new youth van thanks to Janice and the late Jerry Clark’s generous gift. We’re taking it to our ALPHA retreat tomorrow at Camp Canyon. We have a new memorial park bench being built for us thanks to Evert and Gayla Walton’s kindness, and folks are beginning to contribute to our “Pave It Forward” Lenten parking lot project. We’re at $27,444 so far. Thanks to all of you who have given already!

We also have a new opportunity in three weeks on Holy Saturday, April 19, 2025. In the recent past, we have set up prayer stations in the parlor on the Saturday before Easter Sunday for personal prayer. This year, I felt led by the Lord to do something different in our sanctuary. I want to “saturate” our sanctuary with the spoken Word. What do I mean? I’m inviting you individually or as a family to come and read God’s Word aloud from the pulpit.

We’ll begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, reading the four gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – and conclude by 5 p.m. I believe it will take about eight hours. You can sign up beginning Sunday, April 6, for 15-minute time slots on the poster near the fireplace in the church lobby. I selected a special giant print Bible to use, so it will be easy for us to read. After reading your 15 minutes, you will draw a line under the last verse you read and sign your name in the margin. This will be a lasting testimony of this special event. Revelations 1:4 reminds us, “Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” As I like to remind us of every Sunday as I lift God’s Word, “May God’s blessing be on the reading, hearing and receiving of God’s Holy Word.” You and yours will be blessed!

Thanks for your faithfulness to Jesus. Looking forward to being back with you this Sunday.

Yours in Christ’s sacrificial love,
Pastor Mark

PS: Please keep this weekend’s overnight ALPHA retreat in your prayers. Thanks.
