God did it again! He was faithful to us in 2024 and is giving us the opportunity for a fresh start again in 2025! We’ll come together this Sunday in remembering the Christmas season just past and anticipating the joys and blessings in store in this new year! We will “begin on our knees” as we approach the communion table, repenting of our sins and enjoying the freedom found in forgiveness through the life-giving blood of Jesus. The babe born in Bethlehem came to be our Savior and Lord on Calvay. We are wonderfully blessed.
No need to “spring forward” or to “fall back," we just simply turn the page on a new day and a new year. The constant in our life is Jesus Christ – “the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Isn’t it great to know that whatever comes our way in 2025, we can count on Christ! The more significant question is, “Can He count on me?” I pray He can.
As Pastor Phil Wilson shared with us last Sunday, the Lord Jesus is always speaking to us. We simply need to listen and obey. When that godly thought comes to mind to write a note or make a call, forgive an offense, or visit someone who is lonely – receive that as a direct word from The Lord. Or when you are tempted to do nothing or to do something in contrast to Christ, recognize the source as well – Satan, the father of all lies. Though his voice is strong, John told us that the Holy Spirit “who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (I John 4:4). Jesus said in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart. I have overcome the world.” We are victorious overcomers in Christ.
Get your New Year off to a great start. Join us this Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, for worship and Holy Communion. If you do, you will have perfect attendance and be blessed, too!
Looking forward to seeing you in the new year at “Willow View on Purdue.”
Yours in Christ’s love,
Pastor Mark
PS: Prayers for our nation as we entered this new year with such a senseless and tragic act of violence in New Orleans yesterday. Please pray for the families of the victims and for healing for those injured – physically and emotionally. We also remember and celebrate the life of President Jimmy Carter this week remembering his great faith in a faithful God.
