What?! Does everyone get a bonus today? Wouldn’t that be great? No, it’s simply a bonus day we get every four years, February 29. The day no one really wants to be born on (unless you enjoy being on the front page of the newspaper like today or want to be considered “younger” longer than others!).
February 29 would be a unique day to get married. John Kelly told me he tried to convince Maryetta to marry him on February 29, but she wisely refused. That’s why they’re celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary this weekend instead. Congratulations! (I reminded him I wasn’t even born when they got married!)
Today is a good day – a different day – and as Arby’s likes to proclaim, “Different is Good!”
What will you do on this day? God’s Word reminds us to live one day at a time. Yesterday is past and tomorrow isn’t promised. Today is the only day we really have. Let’s make the most of it as we seek to live for Christ every day. What would the Lord have you do today? If you’re still working outside the home, let’s commit to Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Do your best to be a blessing to someone today. Encourage a friend. Write a thank you note to someone who has blessed your life. Take someone to lunch. Smile! Open the door for a stranger.
Life is a gift. A most precious gift. Thank God for the life He has given you in Christ Jesus! We are blessed to be a blessing! Happy “Leap Day” to you and yours!
Yours in Christ’s love,
Pastor Mark
Willow View men: Be sure to join us this Saturday morning at 8 a.m. for a great breakfast in the Family Life Center and time together with former NBA player Brent Price.
