I’ve received several thank you notes, texts and a card this week from several of you. Thank you. The notes were thanking me for sharing last week that we will be tithing 10% of our Pave It Forward project funds to global missions. As you know, I am a firm believer in tithing the first portion of one’s income back to the Lord. It all belongs to Him. Whatever we think we have came first, because He provided for us with good health, hard work, wise decision-making, and faithfulness back to Him. He is our ultimate and faithful provider.
As you may know, we tithe as a church every January on the funds we received the previous year above our expenses, giving money to support both local and global ministries.
Willow View does an excellent job at providing for local ministries and community needs. Our Mission Team and Willow View Women are constantly receiving much needed items to care for people in our local Enid community and beyond. We collect scarves and gloves, canned food/cereal for Shepherd’s Cupboard, diapers for CDSA, support Care Portal needs through DHS, health items for Youth and Family Services, Hope Outreach Ministries, Salvation Army, Forgotten Ministries, Our Daily Bread, 4RKids and much more.
Globally, we support the work of two missionary families – Ben and Deysi West in Peru/China and Stuart and Shoshannah Weinisch with Jews for Jesus in Brooklyn, N.Y. As a new Global Methodist Church, we also support the work of our denomination in Ethiopia and around the globe. Every fall, we partner with Samaritan’s Purse to pack and send Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to needy children around the world, too.
But, there’s so much more yet to be done in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. I’m excited that our personal giving for Pave It Forward will also bless other Christians around the world. Thanks in advance for the sacrificial gift you have or will give in these next days leading up to Easter. “We love because He first loved us.” – I John 4:19. Looking forward to worshipping our Lord Jesus with you this Sunday (No need to spring forward!).
Yours in Christ’s love,
Pastor Mark
PS: Be sure to check our parking lot this week to see the new vehicle the Lord has blessed us with through the generosity of one Willow View family. God is good!
