We received word from the Global Methodist Church on Monday that we have been accepted as the newest member church of the Global Methodist Church. Our prayers have been answered!
We have “stood firm” on our traditional, biblical convictions and have honored our Lord Jesus and His Holy Word. We have maintained and reaffirmed our historic Methodist roots within the broader Christian community. Our vision aligns with the Global Methodist Church’s vision to “Make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly and witness boldly.” We still have much to accomplish in these key areas as we love and serve our Lord Jesus Christ and the Enid community and beyond.
I personally pray that Willow View Church will become a House of Prayer – a place dedicated and saturated in prayer as the foundation of our faith. Jesus said this quoting the prophet Isaiah in Is. 56:7, “for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” Sounds like a global mission, right? For all nations. God knows our world needs much prayer. Prayer may appear to be “inactivity,” but actually it is the most important spiritual activity we can engage in. More is accomplished through prayer than preaching, serving or giving. Though all are very important aspects of our spiritual lives, prayer is the most important. As I like to say, prayer is our relationship with Jesus. We talk about and talk to the One we love. The more we love Jesus, the more we talk and listen to Him and share him with others.
I’m inviting our adults to join us in prayer every Wednesday night from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. We worship together, share joys and answers to prayer, and we pray. We’re blessed to approach God’s throne of grace. “Let us approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16. Do you need prayer? We’d love to pray for you! Almost every week, we pray for a specific individual present at the altar. Robin and I both have been recipients of your heartfelt prayers, as well as others too.
This Sunday is a very special Sunday! We will have one combined worship service at 10:00 a.m. (set your clocks!) and our all-church indoor/outdoor picnic immediately following about 11:30 a.m. We will present our third-graders with their new Bibles, and I’ll read our official welcome letter from the Global Methodist Church. This is a great day to invite a friend to join us as well. Who will you invite? The Lord is doing something special at “the new Willow View on Purdue!” Let’s join Him in what He’s doing.
Looking forward to seeing you here this Sunday morning at 10:00.
Blessings,
Pastor Mark
