Come On, Ring Those Bells

By Pastor Mark McAdow
I just got back from my shift ringing Salvation Army bells at Jumbo Foods with Fred Craig. We had a chilly but fun time greeting folks with Christmas cheer and raising some money for the less fortunate of Enid. It’s one of my favorite activities of the year. Why? It’s a way to give some time to benefit others and to hopefully be a faithful witness for Jesus too. It’s giving to people who we don’t know and who can’t give back to us. Pure giving. It’s our way to give directly to Jesus. It is His birthday after all. (Today happens to be my bride Robin’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Honey!). Thanks to all of you who are ringing bells with us today and/or are contributing to the red kettle in our church Welcome Center.

I mentioned last Sunday to “expect the unexpected,” and it’s certainly happened in my life this week with unexpected lunches with two special folks at Willow View and some other good news this week, too. Last night our daughter Lauren got engaged to Pete Craver, a former classmate from OSU. We met his family from Ft. Worth and their local friends for a celebration dinner in Stillwater last evening. He’s a pilot instructor. We’ve lovingly referred to him as “Pete the pilot,” but now he’s Pete the fiancée! He proposed on a grass runway in Cushing after flying Lauren there. He’s a great young Christian man, and we are thrilled for their future together. God is good!

Last Sunday we enjoyed an excellent Children’s Christmas program. Thanks to Lindsey Schroeder and ALL the great ladies who helped on stage and behind the scenes. Our kids did a fantastic job singing, acting, sharing scriptures and more. I loved the enthusiasm and energy and bright Christian witness of “Good News Ahead … The Signs of Christmas.” This Sunday our Willow View choir will be presenting “The First Noel” during our 9 a.m. morning worship service. Come and invite a friend to join us as we celebrate Jesus this season.

Keep your eyes and ears open, more good news is coming. "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20-21

Merry Christmas!
