He is Still Risen!

By Pastor Mark McAdow
Praise the Lord for a wonderful Holy Week at Willow View!  Several you have commented to me how much you appreciated our Lenten devotional this year, our “Love on the cross” weekly symbols, as well as all our special services. The choir blessed us on Palm Sunday with the “Amazing Grace” musical and we enjoyed every worship experience that helped turned our attention and affection towards Jesus, our living savior and Lord. As always, Easter Sunday morning is the best Sunday of the year.  So glad so many of you were here.

As many of you know, the Lord has honored us and brought us through a challenging time last year.  Our disaffiliation from the United Methodist denomination was complete in October 2022 and we paid off our three-year disaffiliation loan about three years early in March 2023.  Praise God!

Now is the time to prayerfully consider where the Lord is leading us next in terms of possible affiliation with a new denomination.  Several of our Administrative Council and SPRC members heard a presentation last month from Pastor D.A. Bennett from St. Andrew’s Community Church in OKC, which is now affiliated with the GMC – Global Methodist Church.  Since 2019, more than 1,800 U.S. United Methodist churches have left the UMC denomination and more than 1,200 have affiliated with the new GMC.

This Wednesday evening, April 19, Dr. Keith Cressman will be with us to make a presentation on the Global Methodist Church to all our Willow View family and friends.  This is purely an informational meeting, allowing us to hear and ask questions about the GMC. Keith is a friend of mine from Bethany who I served with in the Oklahoma Annual Conference for 35 years.  He is a man of God, a former United Methodist pastor who now has volunteered in retirement to serve as the “Oklahoma organizer” of the new Global Methodist Church that launched last May 1, 2022, with conservative, biblical, Wesleyan leadership.

We may also have other Oklahoma churches attending this presentation, so please welcome friends and strangers to Willow View this Wednesday evening.  We’ll plan to meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Please be in prayer for this initial, informational meeting.  Obviously, no votes will be taken and we plan to get together as our Willow View Church family in May for further discussions about possible options.

These are exciting times at Willow View as we move forward.  As always, my prayer has been and is to do all things, “His will, His way.” To God be the glory!

See you this Sunday.

Yours in Christ’s love,
Pastor Mark
