Thanks for the Memories

By Pastor Mark McAdow
It has been a blessing to share life and ministry with Quintin Wray these last five years. We prayed and waited a year for the Lord’s answer regarding a Youth Pastor for Willow View. He sent us Quintin, Hailey, and a young Daxx. They added Rekker to their family, so we’ve been the only church family the boys have ever known. This Sunday will be their last “official” Sunday with us at Willow View. I’ve invited Quintin to preach at both services and we’re hosting a Reception for him and his family at 12:15 following Worship. I’d encourage you to write a card or note of “Thanks” for all they have meant to you over the years.

Life in the church office will be different for a while. It will definitely be quieter but less jovial too!  Quintin is a great singer, and he loves to sing all the time! We’ll miss hearing his songs in the hallway and the little necessary room too! We’ll miss his loud “Good Morning Willow View!” on Sundays, his prayers and his spirited preaching too.  I know our Youth will miss his presence in their lives also. Change is hard but change can also be good. Quintin’s desire has always been to be a fulltime Senior Pastor and now he has that opportunity. We all want to support him in His calling as a “missionary” to Okeene!

I’ve encouraged him over the years to continue to pursue his education and now he has completed his first semester at Asbury Seminary online! He is working toward his Master of Divinity degree so he can be a fully ordained Global Methodist Pastor. God is good!

I will miss our Tuesday mornings together in our Men’s Discipleship Group, that I started 3 years ago with Quintin, Brian, and Chris. He has also served on my Men’s Prayer Team praying for me, our family, and our Willow View Church Family too. We’ve shared special Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Blue Christmas Services together. We been through a lot together with COVID, disaffiliation from the UMC and our recent affiliation with The Global Methodist Church and loss of both our moms- his much too soon.

I hope you will come join us as we bless Quintin and his family this last Sunday of 2023. One chapter closes but in Christ; a new one always begins! ‘“He who is seated on the throne said, ‘I am making all things new!’” -Rev. 21:5

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Mark

This Sunday evening December 31st, we’re hosting a Watch Night New Year’s Eve Service from 6:00PM-7:00PM. We will worship, sing, and celebrate Holy Communion! Come share this special opportunity together as we anticipate the Lord’s blessing in the New Year!
