39ers Class
The 39ers are caring and committed Christians. We study the Bible, storing God's word in our hearts. Our teaching style is a combination of lecture, group discussion, and reading. Class members are singles and couples who are 39+ years old, however, we feel the class would appeal to any adult interested in growing their faith.
Class members live out their faith daily by helping on committees, missions, and teaching adults, youth and children. We help take care of the church itself with administrative, building maintenance and gardening endeavors. Many will step up to participate with church service by singing, playing the piano/organ, leading prayers, and even delivering the message. Our generous class members also help to support the Boy's Ranch.
Our group is enriched through study fellowship, prayers, love, hugs, and activities. Some of our activities also include lunch after church, other planned dinners, and parties.
The members of the 39ers are very loving and dependable Christians who graciously give time, talent, gifts and service for the Glory of God.
Builders Class
The Builders Class began meeting in the mid-1940s. The class is composed of senior citizens. Members are in the age group between early sixties and middle nineties.
We have an enrollment of approximately 30 people, with an average attendance of about 25 class members.
There are six teachers who rotate the teaching duties weekly. Class officers consist of a president, vice-president and a secretary/treasurer; who are elected annually.
We try to have at least two social events per year: A Christmas party including a gift exchange and another event sometime within the summer months.
This is a forward-looking, caring class whose members are always willing to participate in church activities and always ready and willing to help anyone in need.
Circle of Faith
The Circle of Faith Sunday School Class has a membership of young families and single Christians with the same interests and goals. We "pray together and play together." We have quarterly socials for our group and we participate in church activities and special projects. We would welcome any and all to join us as we reach out to serve our Lord together in our Circle of Faith.
Couples In Christ
This class is the newest class at Willow View and is geared toward young couples. We focus on the issues of raising children, creating a strong marriage, studying the Bible, and developing our faith and the faith of our families. We meet in the Family Life Center and make everyone comfortable with our relaxed, conversational style of learning and teaching.
Couples in Christ have numerous social activities throughout the year. Pool parties, game nights, and dinners are all family friendly with childcare provided when needed. This is a perfect class for young or newly married couples
Crusaders
The Crusaders Sunday School Class was organized in the mid-1950s at Central United Methodist Church in response to a need for an identity and a place for a growing group of young married couples coming into the church at that time. The name "New-Comers" was given to the group and Carl Christensen was given the assignment of teaching the group.
The class began to grow in numbers and in dedication and service to the church and its ministry in the community. The class members have contributed to the church, now known as Willow View, in all areas of church life including music, Boy Scouts, finance, building committee, teaching and other administrative posts such as fellowship and funeral family dinners.
The class members felt a name change was in order around 1960 and a new name was selected that would reflect their desire to show vitality and commitment to Christian values through the church.
Carl Christenson was their beloved Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. In 2008 he and his wife, Vera Mae, moved to Virginia to be near family. Instead of trying to replace him (an impossible task), the class now studies each Sunday from a book, 500 Questions From The Bible. As a group, they read the question(s) and accompanying Bible verses, then discuss them. The questions are very thought provoking and have been the source of some very interesting dialogue among class members.
The class has a breakfast gathering two or three times a year during the Sunday School hour with regularly scheduled social gatherings several times a year. There are no age suggestions for participation. Singles or married couples are welcome in whatever place they find themselves in their particular point in life. The Crusaders meet in the church parlor for a class lesson and discussion session each Sunday morning from 9:00 to 9:45 am. All are more than welcome to attend.
