Site Planning Task Force Leads Us Into Our Future
The
Site Planning Task Force completed its work by proposing to the
Administrative Council a number of options in the coming months and
years to prepare us to continue to reach out to our community.
The task force met for the past 1 ½ years and examined our church
property and established some areas of emphasis.
1. The task force determined the Trustees need to continue to
move forward in completing improvements on the new 5 acre tract to the
west of our church with the possibility of swapping some of the
property with an adjacent land owner. The swap, though far from a
done deal, will help square off our west property line and make our
property more usable by the church.
2. The task force decided the roof leaks must be permanently
fixed in order to protect our church from more water damage. The
leaks are primarily in the perimeter of the Family Life Center and we
have been battling them since it was built in 1984. We believe it
is time to get serious about finding a permanent solution to these
leaks.
3. The task force concluded it is time to replace the parsonage
for our senior pastor. The current house, a 36 year-old house, is
in need of major repairs in order to meet our denomination's parsonage
standards. Likewise, when the house was purchased in 1991 it was seen
as a short-term solution. 21 years later we feel it is time to
move forward in this current housing market and this time of low
interest financing.
There are a number of steps required before we are able to move forward
with some of these proposals, but we are confident these steps will
help us move into the future as we anticipate our current church
mortgage being paid off in less than five years.
